Remedial Measures

The institution always follows the words of our former president Dr. A.P.J Abdul Kalam:- “The best brains of the nation may be found on the last benches of the classroom”. Students are assessed continuously through regular teaching, interactions and regular viva by subject teachers. The student who get more than 60% marks in the internal examinations are considered as advanced learners and the students who get less than 50% marks continuously are considered as a slow learners and is given special attention to them. The categorization is  also done based on the performances  of students in the regular classes, practical labs, viva voce, seminar presentations  etc. Through a mentor-mentee system all kind of support is provided to the slow learners. The slow learners are provided with additional classes starting from the basic knowledge of respective topics along with special class tests and viva voce is conducted. Videos are presented for the students to understand the mechanism of action of drugs, physiological process of the body, chemical reactions…etc. Improvement exams are conducted for the students who get low marks in the internal examinations, organized by the class co-ordinators and the subject in charge, according to the scheduled time table usually conducted after the regular class time. The efforts taken by the faculty towards the slow learners has resulted in improved results and pass percentage. The mentor also identifies other skills and strengths and encourages them to build self-confidence resulting in improvement in their academic performance.

After taking the above said measures, the students are subjected to next internal examinations. The results of the two internal examinations are compared by the subject in charges as well as the year in-charges and the improvement in performance is evaluated. The slow learning students who get more than 60% marks is shifted to the group of advanced learners. This help to increase the confident level of students. For advanced learners, their output is increased by self-learning through seminar presentations, assignments..etc.
